It stops here!

They're going to be Falcons
Me-I don’t want you to grow up.
E-Dad, we have to turn 5. I’m sowwy.
Me-I know.
E-But I don’t want to get any older than that. So, I’ll just stay 5 for you forever. Ok?
Me-Sounds good.

While they’ve been eagerly anticipating not only their 5th birthday, but also the day they get to start Kindergarten, I’ve been dreading it. This week though,we  inched that much closer after registering them to start school this fall at Ft. Wright Elementary. We still have a few months to go before school officially kicks off in August, but filling out those papers made it all the more real. They’re growing up too fast.

When you’re around them almost every day, you don’t notice the little changes in them, like how they’re growing, or how much better they speak than they did a few years ago. For some reason they seem like they’ve always been this big, or that they’ve always spoken this clearly and cleverly. But they haven’t. And there are certain milestones they hit that remind you that they are indeed getting older and bigger.

Heading to a new school is most definitely one of those signs, and now that I think about it, them turning 5 is a pretty big one too. It doesn’t sound like a toddler age, which they haven’t been for a while, but somewhere deep down you always want them to stay your little babies. I have no doubt they will love it and make tons of new friends (that has never, ever, ever been a problem with them) and I’m excited for them to start this new chapter in their lives, but at the same time it makes me a little sad that they’ve somehow managed to get this old, this fast.

It’s a great reminder for me though, to remember to fully appreciate every moment with them while they are this age, because lord knows, it’s going to be gone in an instant. At the end of the day, at least Elle is going to stay 5 for me forever. So that’s comforting.

Here are a few pics from our amazing weekend around town. Gotta love this weather!
